Monthly Update

Next All Gathering: 4:30 PM Sunday, September 6th at Westside Church (7300 Stockdale Hwy) for our regular rhythm of worship, prayer, and teaching and taking the Bread & Cup as House Church communities. 

As always, we look forward to spending time as a community around the table after our gathering. We'll be in the gym for the meal that evening. Please feel welcome to stick around for dinner and enjoy some tacos🌮! ($7 per person, with a max of $25 per family to help cover costs).

River & Way Student Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month. This is a space for our students to get to know one another, build community, and follow the way of Jesus together.

Our next Student Group gathering is Wednesday, September 9th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, location TBA.

Every Monday night in October, we’re gathering from 6:45–8:00 PM to learn and practice fasting together using the Practicing the Way curriculum.

Fasting can feel strange if you’ve never done it, and for a lot of us it may be a practice we know about but haven’t really learned how to live. Over these weeks, we’ll talk about what fasting is, why Jesus practiced it, and how it can help us become more aware of our hunger for God.

This won’t just be about learning information. We’ll make space to ask questions, try the practice, and learn together what it looks like to make fasting a real part of our life with Jesus.

Hosted at the Burch Home. Address will be sent after registration.

We won’t provide childcare, but if that would keep you from joining us, please let us know. We’d love to help figure something out.

River & Way is planning a Family Carpinteria Trip from October 30 to November 1 at Carpinteria State Beach. 

We have group sites reserved, and families are invited to sign up if they are interested in joining us. This is always a fun weekend together, with a beach day on Saturday, a shared meal on Saturday evening, and trick-or-treating throughout the campsite.

The cost will be around $40 to $55 per night for the whole family, depending on the site.

The Tuesday Night Ministry meets every Tuesday evening outdoors on the grounds of The Mission at Kern County, 816 East 21st Street. This ministry began over 30 years ago at one church, but God has turned it into a Body of Christ ministry with multiple churches and groups involved. A short message begins at 6:30 PM with dinner set up and serving beginning at 7:00 PM. Everyone is invited to serve, including families with children. We are also looking for those called to do worship from 6:00-6:30 PM on those evenings.

Be aware that we will be outdoors from 6:30-8:00 PM, so dress accordingly.
